Welcome to the Friends of Bridport Primary School Web page! 
The Friends of Bridport Primary School (FOBPS) is the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA).
We’re a group of parents and teachers working together to make your child’s school experience as enriched and rewarding as possible. Our aim is to build a strong community that organises events and raises funds for valuable activities and resources—things that the school budget cannot cover and that aren’t funded elsewhere.

We’re always looking for new Friends to join us; if you’d like to get involved, we’d love to hear from

FOBPS funding this term
Last academic year we made over £14,000 worth of donations! Here are some examples of projects/equipment etc that we have been able to provide for because of your ongoing support:
● FOBPS biggest donation for the year has been to fund a full upgrade of the School Hall audio
visual system costing over £7,000: this is an invaluable asset to the school, enabling
assemblies, learning, school discos, School Nativities and Year 6 shows to name a few – we
hope everyone gets to enjoy the improvements soon!
● A Christmas treat for Year 4 when visiting Groves in December
● Christmas party food for class parties throughout the school in the final week before
Christmas
● Funding for Years 3-6 transport to BLC for swimming lessons this year
● Subsidy for Year 6 Leavers Hoodies – don’t they look smart!
● ELSA resources for Mrs Taylor to use in The Hive.
● Coach fees paid for Year 5 trip to see the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra
● Science Week workshops for Year 1 & 2.
● Coach fees paid for the Year 4 Maths trip to Woodroffe school.
● LBQ (Learning by Questions) subscription fees subsidised to help Year 5 & 6 with their SATs
preparation.
● Year 6 Domino’s pizza treat at the end of SAT’s week.
● 2 desktop ovens for use in the classrooms – we have already seen some delicious treats
being baked!
● Funding for KS1 trip to Washingpool Farm.

Events:
Christmas Market: Fri 5th December 2025
As has become the norm for the Christmas Fair, the weather proved a challenge—but we pulled together and successfully moved everything indoors!  A huge shout out to Rob, Nick, and Stan for braving the storm and keeping the BBQ running in the playground.

Thank you to everyone who attended; despite the conditions, it was a busy, festive market full of Christmas cheer, with the added magic of visiting Father Christmas.  Together, we raised over £1,900 for FOBPS.

Easter Hop!  Sat 28 th March 2026
Peter Rabbit spent a wonderful morning at BPS, greeting children as they completed their Easter
hunt around the school grounds and rewarding them with a delicious chocolate egg.

Thank you to everyone who came along—we hope you all had a fantastic time!  The sun was shining, and together
we raised a record amount for an Easter Fair, taking in over £1,200.  We are incredibly grateful to all those who donated on Chocolate Day, as well as everyone who helped with setting up and running the stalls - it truly made the event a success.

School Disco’s: Oct 2025, Feb & May 2026
We have now held all three of the School Disco’s for this year and what a party the children had! The hall was filled with singing, dancing, and laughter on all occasions!  Thanks to your incredible support, the three discos raised over £2,070 for FOBPS funds, which will go straight back into school activities and resources for the children.  A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped make each one such a memorable event!

FOBPS Bingo: 30 th May
Huge thanks to Mrs East, Mrs Taylor, and their team for hosting a Bingo evening at BYCC in support
of FOBPS.  Although we did not receive any prize donations this time, a special thank you to Laura,
who kindly stepped in to go shopping on behalf of FOBPS to purchase them instead.  It was a
fantastic evening enjoyed by all, and the event raised an impressive £435 after expenses.

BPS Colour Fest
This year we changed up our summer event and held the first BPS Colour Run event; what an
absolutely vibrant, joyous and unforgettable day - a massive thank you to everyone who joined us
over on the sports field! We are thrilled to announce that the event was an overwhelming success,
bringing together over 150 participants who walked, jogged, and ran through clouds of colour.
Thanks to your incredible energy and generosity we raised just over £1000. Thank you to all the
volunteers who made this happen, we couldn’t have done it without you!

FOBPS Sports Day Cafe

This year Sports Day was a hot one! We opened our pop-up café for the day and kept the drinks
flowing for parents as they cheered their children on! We are delighted to share that this raised
£100 for FOBPS funds!

BREAK THE RULES DAY: Wednesday 22nd July: last day of school.
A popular event with the children, we are holding a Break the Rules Day again – children were
invited to pay 50p per rule break.
Plus….. AFTER SCHOOL we were selling ICE LOLLIES outside the school main office.

New to You Stalls: 
We hold stock of items such as grey/black skirts, dresses, trousers and shorts, and Green jumpers or cardigans for sale at bargain prices (£1-£2 per item). Sales are held monthly at the FOBPS shed in the corner of the school carpark on the first Tuesday of every month: 3:00 – 3:30pm, taking cash and card payment. Dates are subject to change depending on volunteer availability; please check one of our three notice boards around the school grounds for the most up-to date list. We do also respond to email if there is an item you desperately need in between stalls – drop us an email with the item type and size, and we will check our stock and get it to you if we have it available.

Uniform Donations:
Please consider donating any good quality used uniform to the New to You stock. Simply bag it up and put it in our New to You bin next to the Green Textile Recycle Bank in the school car park.  We accept grey/black  skirts/trousers/shorts/dresses, summer dresses, green jumpers, cardigans, and PE hoodies.  NO shoes, bags, coats, white polo shirts, underwear(!) or non-clothes items, thank you (these are rarely asked for and take a lot of room in our small storage area – please donate these to
the Astra Cycle Textile Recycle Bank – see below).

FOPBS Communications
Our communication group chat sits within WhatsApp.  If you think you can spare a little time to help the PTA every now and then, please email us at bridportpsfriends@gmail.com. We will add you to the WhatsApp group, where we can put a shout-out when we need help! Alternatively, we still have the communication links below; handy for reminders of events such as discos, uniform sales, cake sales and the summer event, with some parents using email as their preferred mode of communication when help is requested.

Astra Cycle Textile Recycle Bank: the Big Green Textile Bank in the school carpark.   

Astra Cycle pays FOBPS per kilo for what is collected and will empty the bank every 2 weeks to stop it from overflowing!  (If it is full, please wait for the bank to be emptied rather than leaving the bags of textiles next to the bank)  The textiles collected are either sent to Eastern Europe to be used again or converted into insulation
materials and industrial cleaning wipes - less than 1% of what you donate will end up in the ground.  Items must be bagged please, and the following is accepted: Clothing, Uniform (if not fit for New to You), Shoes, Accessories (bags, hats, gloves, scarves, belts etc), bed linen and towels.  Please note, the textile bank does not take Carpet, Curtains, Fabric Off cuts and General waste.
